Speedy Moisture Tester

Moisture Tester, portable device used in the jute industry to measure the moisture content of textiles either in their raw state, during processing or as a finished product. This works by releasing gas when the device comes in contact with moisture, which then registers on the dial showing as a percentage. Stored in a wooden carrying case with compartmentalised interior with some green baize lining, metal clasps and leather and metal carrying handle. Operating instructions are pasted inside the lid (printed in brown on pale blue paper). Case contains a folding balance scale with a brass pan, one cylinder of 'Speedy Absorbent' powder (red and cream design), measuring spoon and moisture tester gauge. There is also a small key in the bottom of the case, presumably to lock the case clasps.
