Dark wood writing box with yellow metal details at corners and over front and top. Lockable with key and woolen green potective base. Inside has evidence of refurbishment with replacement writting surface and lids secured with nylon green ribbon.
Plaque on top reads: Presented to / Mr E O'ffee / as a token of respect / from the / workers at hillbank works /Dundee 4th October 1879.
Edward O ffee was from Northern Ireland and came with his wife to work in the Mill. Worked as an overseer.
